2026 Gubernatorial Survey
As Iowa continues to face one of the highest cancer incidence rates in the nation, the role of state leadership in shaping policies that impact prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship has never been more critical.
In April 2026, gubernatorial candidates were invited to participate in a nonpartisan, expert led forum designed to deepen their understanding of the complex factors influencing cancer across the state. Through presentations from leading clinicians, researchers, and public health professionals, candidates explored Iowa specific cancer data, environmental and access to care challenges, emerging research, and the priorities outlined in the Iowa Cancer Plan. Building on that shared foundation of knowledge, the Iowa Cancer Consortium issued a follow up survey to all candidates to better understand their perspectives on cancer control and prevention. The responses shared below offer insight into how each candidate approaches the challenges and opportunities ahead, and how they envision supporting healthier outcomes for all Iowans.
