Tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death in Iowa. According to the 2016 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System, 16.7% of Iowans currently use tobacco.

Tobacco Resources

Tobacco Workgroup

The Tobacco workgroup will strive to decrease tobacco and nicotine use and exposure as outlined in the Iowa Cancer Plan. The group will focus on projects that educate the general public, policy makers and local leaders on the dangers of tobacco and nicotine use. The group will also collaborate on projects that ensure populations that have higher than typical tobacco use rates are a focus of the workgroup efforts. Health equity will be a priority across the work that takes place within this group.
