Radon is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, radioactive gas that is produced from the decay of naturally occurring uranium in the soil. Risk occurs when this gas enters buildings and the decay products are breathed in. The decay products can damage the lungs and cause lung cancer.

Radon Workgroup

In Iowa the Radon Workgroup is comprised of individuals and organizations committed to educating Iowans on the risks of radon exposure and decreasing Iowans exposure to radon. Members of the workgroup collaborate to share best practices and leverage existing resources to educate Iowans on the dangers of radon and other environmental substances linked to cancer.
